Benchmark attended a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the 5-unit townhouse complex in Auburn known as Academy Street Townhouses. Pictured is Tom Donahue from Coastal Enterprises, Inc speaking about the success of the project. Jonathan LaBonte, Auburn Mayor, referred to this project as the first phase in the revitalization of downtown Auburn.

BENCHMARK is growing and seeking to fill the following positions:
Commercial Construction Project Manager
The Project Manager shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Develops a cost-effective plan and schedule for completion of project following a logical pattern for utilization of resources.
- Review subcontractor bids, select subcontractors on various phases of the project and issue subcontracts/purchase orders.
- Oversees performance of all trade contractors and reviews architectural and engineering drawings to make sure that all specifications and regulations are being followed.
- Is responsible for proper administration of construction contracts and for obtaining all necessary permits and licenses.
- Possess working knowledge of all project plans, specifications, Contract, subcontracts, purchase orders, daily correspondence, shop drawings, submittals and all other project related documents and maintain a complete and accurate set of as-builts.
- Review and expedite RFI’s.
- Review and approve subcontractor’s requisitions, vendor payment applications and miscellaneous invoices.
- Supervises superintendents, reviews their reports, checks on any reported difficulties, and corrects any safety violations or other reported deficiencies.
- Tracks and controls construction schedule in conjunction with site super and associated costs to achieve completion of project within time and monies allocated.
- Oversight to ensure safety is maintained at jobsite
- Reports to owners and architects about progress and any necessary modifications of plans that seem indicated.
- Review monthly progress reports, schedules and cost reports.
- Ensure timely and accurate approvals of Owner requisitions.
- Participate in regular scheduled project staff meetings and issue meeting minutes to all attendees.
- Review change orders request with subcontractors and owner for approval, as a result of changes and revisions to work.
- Provide organization, direction and training of subordinate project team members.
- Develops and maintains business relationships with Owner, Architecture/Engineers and subcontractors to encourage or ensure future business opportunities.

- Ensures all necessary documentation is maintained on company server via Remote Desktop.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in building construction or architecture.
- Five years or more of experience supervising construction projects of increasing complexity.
- Effective computer skills; Microsoft Office Software, Timberline Project Management & Estimating, Outlook, and other company and discipline specific software applications. Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the company.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate competency in the areas of estimating, scheduling, budgeting/cost control, field supervision, financial reporting, client relationship, and safety/insurance.
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail.
- Highly organized.

- Maintains job schedule and document progress via MS Project
- Oversees performance of all trade contractors and reviews architectural and engineering drawings to make sure that all specifications and regulations are being followed.
- Coordinates work of subcontractors working on various phases of the project.
- Reports to project manager about progress and any necessary modifications of plans that seem indicated.
- Keep informed on and ensure that all requirements of insurance and safety are met.
- Possess working knowledge of all project plans, specifications, Contract, subcontracts, purchase orders, daily correspondence, shop drawings, submittals and all other project related documents and maintain a complete and accurate set of as-builts.
- Participate in regular scheduled project staff meetings
- Maintains daily logs via Company Server Through Remote Desktop on internet
- Scanned copies of all documents to be maintained on company server via Remote Desktop whenever possible.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Effective computer skills; Microsoft Office Software, Timberline Project Management & Estimating, Outlook, and other Company and discipline specific software applications.
- Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company.

Benchmark has negotiated a contract with Wallingford Square LLC to complete the historic repairs and alterations of the 1920′s Fraternal Buiding. Renovations include structural, system upgrades, a new storefront & interior fit out. Construction will commence in April and is scheduled for completion in July.
Once completed, the building will include 2 retail spaces in the basement, 6 retail spaces on the first floor, 6 offices on the second floor as well as a large loft apartment on the 3rd floor.
This section of Kittery is the heart of the historic business community.

Benchmark was the low bidder for the Maine Wildlife Toilet Building in Gray. Construction will commence in March and will be completed by the middle of May. This new 900 sq. ft. building will feature men’s, women’s and family restrooms for visitors of the Maine Wildlife Park located in Gray off of Route 26.

Benchmark will be working with James Herrick Architect on the construction of a new 11,000 retail plaza in Augusta. Located next to the new Goodwill that we recently constructed, this plaza will feature 3 retail vendors that will be opening late summer 2013.

Benchmark is currently working on a new dental clinic for Aspen Dental in Auburn. This will make the 8th clinic we  have constructed for Aspen Dental Management since 2006. Other locations have included Biddeford, S. Portland, Portland, Topsham, Waterville, Bangor and Augusta.
